For this week’s newsletter, we are bringing you an interview with Bryce Boettcher. Bryce is a dual sport athlete at the University of Oregon playing both Football and Baseball. In this interview we get to see the interesting perspective from a dual sport athlete that has a change in music taste between the Football and Baseball seasons. BRYCE BOETTCHER INTERVIEW
TWU: First off as a dual sport athlete do you think that your music taste changes for the different seasons?
Yes my music taste changes for the different seasons. Rap for football, country / raggae for baseball.
TWU: What do you think are the positives and challenges of being a dual sport athlete?
Positives include being in phenomenal shape and lots of teammates / connections. Challenges include always being mentally and physically fatigued.
TWU: What is your favorite song to be played in the stadium during a game?
Baseball: Boombastic by Shaggy
Football: Carousel by Travis Scott
TWU: What is your walkout song for baseball?
TWU: If you had to choose on genre to listen to for the rest of your life which one would it be?
Country
TWU: Do you have a go to song after a win?
TWU: What’s the atmosphere like in the locker room? Is everyone headphones in listening to their own music, or is there music playing over a speaker? (or both)
Headphones pregame for football. Speaker with rap in the locker room pregame for baseball.
TWU: What is your favorite song from your childhood?
TWU: What song is always making your pre-game playlists?
TWU: Besides listening to music, do you have any other pre-game rituals or superstitions? Does it change for different sports?
Not entirely no.
TWU: What are 3 artists that are always on your pre-game playlist?
TWU: How important is music to you when training in between seasons? Do you change up the playlist for that?
Baseball is more chill vibes and football is more intense vibes.
TWU: If you were stuck on an island what 3 songs would you choose to listen to?
TWU: If you had to recommend 1 song to a friend what song would it be?
